What this episode covers
There’s a program where one team handles everything — doctors, day care, medications, transportation — often at no cost to Medicaid-eligible seniors. It’s called PACE.
PACE — the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly — serves people fifty-five and older who qualify for nursing-home level care but want to keep living at home. Enrollees receive a complete package through one organization: primary and specialty medical care, an adult day health center, medications, therapies, transportation to and from the center, in-home support, and even hospital care when needed — all coordinated by a single team that knows the whole person. For seniors with both Medicare and Medicaid, there’s typically no premium at all. The trade-off: you use the PACE organization’s provider network. Availability depends on where you live — PACE programs operate in parts of Maryland, so eligibility is worth one phone call to check.
For the right senior — high needs, determined to stay home, Medicaid-eligible — PACE may be the best-kept secret in senior care.
